Grow Salon, A Shane Archer Concept

Grow Knoxville - A Shane Archer Concept Salon, was developed as a new location for the talented team of stylists seeking to provide a warm and luxurious atmosphere for their growing clientele base. The design was focused on providing clients an escape from the outside world, welcoming them to relax. The architect worked in collaboration with designer Stacy Jacobi to translate inviting elements and details to their larger scale space, creating an experience that would make the customer feel at home.

The existing vanilla box retail space featured a high barrel-vaulted ceiling with exposed structure, providing opportunity for multi-leveled spaces and different environments for services and guest experiences. Private areas were created with the addition of a steel mezzanine, strategically placed light fixtures, styling stations and ceiling-hung fabric panels. The monochromatic material and color palette was designed to provide a neutral backdrop, adding to the calm ambience, and appealing to a variety of clientele. As the name implies, Grow places an emphasis on green strategies, recycling everything used within the salon and sourcing local products. This influenced the selection of natural materials and organic textures and textiles.

The new wood floors and wood detail selections were matched to the existing tongue and groove ceiling, adding warmth throughout the salon. The exposed structure and the majority of the furniture was chosen in darker finishes to contrast with the light wood tones. To lighten and brighten the space, most of the walls and millwork were painted white; additionally, the light fixtures were made from clear glass and white fabric and incorporated indirect light sources to highlight the barrel vault features. Every detail, from the work stations to the seating areas, was designed with the intent of creating a customized experience and focusing on quality, creating an elevated atmosphere to match the high level of service provided within.
